We respectfully pay tribute to Specialist Mike Elm, an amazing young man who made the ultimate sacrifice of his life to serve our Country, supporting our lives and way of life. Mike was killed on October 14th during an attack in Afghanistan where he served in the Army’s infantry.
Mike excelled in everything he did. He was said to be fearless, known to come to the defense of the most defenseless. He also had a fantastic sense of humor. Mike wrote about a toy lobster named “Red” he brought to Afghanistan that was seen in his pictures and Facebook communications. Also in Facebook Mike described himself by saying he “loves kittens.” We tearfully think of Mike as we help kittens like “Baby” pictured at right. Three month-old Baby was rescued this October from the roadside in Winslow. The kind family who rescued Baby brought him to our Good Kitties adoption center accompanied by a creature they described as Baby’s best friend. Ironically, it was a red lobster.
Thank you Mike! Thank you for a lifetime of selfless accomplishments packed into an abbreviated life that ended much too soon.
